Commercial Video Production in Cyprus

A commercial sells an idea; a corporate video explains a company. That distinction drives everything else — the writing, the casting, the number of shoot days and the budget. If you only need to explain what you do, a commercial is the wrong tool and an expensive one.

What makes a commercial work

Almost always the idea, not the equipment. A sharp concept shot simply will outperform an empty one shot expensively, every time.

The most useful question at the briefing stage is what single thing you want someone to remember. If the answer is a list, the film is not ready to be made yet — and no amount of production value will rescue a film that is trying to say four things.

Product and tabletop work

Studio product filming is its own discipline. Controlled light, macro detail, and motion built to make the product the hero rather than a prop.

Surfaces behave very differently on camera. Glass needs light shaped behind and around it rather than pointed at it. Metal reflects whatever is in the room, so the room has to be built. Condensation and pour shots are timing problems as much as lighting ones, and they get one clean take before the product looks handled. This is why product work is planned shot by shot rather than covered loosely and fixed later.

It is also unusually efficient. A single studio day can produce a hero film, several cutdowns and a set of stills, because the setup work is already done.

How a commercial is planned

The pattern is consistent: agree the single idea, write to it, storyboard the shots that carry it, then cast and scout against that board.

Everything decided before the shoot day costs a fraction of what it costs to decide on the day. A location change agreed in planning is an email; the same change on the morning is a lost half-day with a crew standing in it.

Grading matters more here than anywhere else

A commercial trades on how it feels, and the look is built in the grade rather than found in camera. It is the one category where we would always argue for it — and the one where skipping it is most obvious, because the footage reads as flat next to everything it sits beside in a feed.

Deliverables

Plan the cutdowns from the start rather than retrofitting them. A hero film, a shorter social cut and a vertical version have different framing needs, and shooting with all three in mind costs nothing extra on the day.

Cropping a finished widescreen edit into 9:16 afterwards almost always damages it — you lose the composition the shot was built around, and anything at the edges of frame disappears entirely. Shooting with the crop in mind means leaving room for it.

Budget

Commercials sit at the upper end of the range because of crew, talent and grading. The variables that move a quote most are location count and talent, not runtime — a thirty-second commercial with three locations and two actors costs considerably more than a two-minute film shot in one place.
